Our story

A JOURNEY THAT STARTED OVER 35 YEARS AGO in a doughnut truck in Ontario continues today for Chris and Marilyn Schmah, proud owners of Foxglove Farm and Garden Supply since 1987. Chris and Marilyn moved here in 1978, settling on Salt Spring Island after a months-long trek across Canada. Inspired by the land, people and lifestyle, the Schmahs quickly immersed themselves in this farming community, starting out as employees at Foxglove Farm and Garden Supply before taking over the business. Along the way they would go on to build their own house, have three daughters, promote farming initiatives across the island, raise their own chicken, pigs and sheep, all while making sure Foxglove Farm and Garden Supply could be a source for farmers and gardeners to get the advice, tools and support they needed to get the most of their land, time and effort. The commitment to the people and traditions of this magical island continues to this day. Come by and be part of this story.
